JOB OBJECTIVES

The Transmission Line Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the construction, operation, and maintenance of the MWEC electrical transmission system. Key objectives include:

  • Supervising the MWEC electrical transmission system’s construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Assisting with pre-engineering, project coordination, inspections, design, economic justification, and installation.
  • Developing and implementing a long-term maintenance program to ensure the reliability and longevity of transmission system assets.
  • Managing and coordinating internal and external teams for new and ongoing projects.
  • Responding to emergencies and after-hours calls.
  • Managing MWEC transmission staff and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Transmission Line Supervisor will:

  • Assist in achieving the objectives of the MWEC Transmission Line Department.
  • Foster a high standard of morale and teamwork within the department.
  • Contribute to long-term plans for personnel, facilities, and resources related to construction, operations, and maintenance.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve construction, maintenance, safety, and training activities.
  • Help prepare the annual budget for the Transmission Line Department.
  • Periodically review department functions and recommend organizational changes for efficiency.
  • Recommend and oversee equipment purchase, replacement, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools within the department.
  • Oversee personnel management, including recruitment, promotion, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster an environment of open communication, safety, and employee development.
  • Ensure all transmission line work adheres to established standards, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Approve time reports, overtime, and manage work schedules.
  • Investigate and report on accidents and safety violations, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Assist in managing emergency situations, including weekend supervisory standby.

BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to: Operations Manager
  • Direct Supervision: Transmission Line Foreperson
  • Indirect Supervision: All personnel in the MWEC Transmission Line Department

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience as a journey line worker.
    • Prior supervisory experience in the electrical field, particularly in transmission line construction and maintenance, is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and management abilities to handle teams effectively.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Basic computer proficiency, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
    • Knowledge of transmission line construction, maintenance, and safety practices.
  • Certifications:
    • A valid and current driver’s license and (CDL) without restrictions is required.
    • Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Additional:
    • The candidate must reside near Williston, North Dakota, to respond to emergency calls and ensure operational readiness.

Compensation

$150,000-185,000 per year
